December Update
Dear Policyholder,
There are some important issues to tell you about and two documents for you to read to keep you up to date on developments.
First, I have been quizzing the Financial Services Authority (FSA) for a long time now about a several aspects of the way it regulates the with-profits industry. This culminated in a long letter called a ‘request for guidance’ which went to the FSA in the summer. The FSA responded to that in the form of a ‘clarification’ which it published yesterday. Please follow this link to read it. http://www.fsa.gov.uk/pubs/other/reattribution_letter.pdf I issued my own view of these matters in press release which you can see by following this link. I found the FSA’s response disappointing but I do want to assure you that I will do all I can to make sure that you are offered a fair deal.
Second, you will find soon that more details of the eligibility criteria and a general update will be coming through your letter boxes. As the Norwich Union note says, this does not imply that the reattribution is certain to go ahead, but it does explain some of the additional detail that is important.
Finally, I would like to thank you all for the interest in this site and the messages of support and encouragement I receive through the email facility and from your letters and phone calls. I hope that you all have a happy Christmas and a marvellous New Year.
Yours faithfully,
Clare Spottiswoode
